Zark’s Burgers: The Food-Inducing-Coma Burger Joint

January 29, 2012

Finally, I have my camera when me and my sister ate at Zark’s Burgers. We went there on a Sunday night but the place was still jampacked with groups of students and even families. I’m quite amazed on how the resto expanded. Before, it was just a small area. Maybe around 5-6 tables on a corner of the Archer’s Nook Building. Now, it has expanded through the previous area of the Reyes BBQ resto and the extension area of the Slice n’ Dice resto. I think soon, it will be expanding around malls and other school areas.

If it’s your first time at Zark’s, you will have a hard time deciding on what to get since there are a lot of choices. There are other foods other than burgers in Zark’s. Like rice meals, chips, fries, ribs, and hotdogs. If you’re on a diet, stay away from Zark’s Burgers but if it’s your cheat day or you just don’t give a damn, go ahead and indulge in the sinful calories. We are on the latter category. haha! My sister ordered the Candied Bacon Burger while I ordered the Crunchy Barbecue Burger. For dessert, we ordered the Deep Fried Snickers.

Candied Bacon Burger  -Cheese burger topped with caramelized bacon (P170)

Crunchy Barbecue Burger - Flame-grilled half pound spicy burger topped with hand-cut potato chips and choice of barbecue sauce (P185)

Deep-fried snickers with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce

The verdict:

I really regret not getting the Candied Bacon Burger because first of all, it has BACON! Second, it’s CANDIED BACON! The sweet and salty combination is just perfect! Although, I still enjoyed my Crunchy Barbecue Burger. Half pound of burger  with a smokey barbecue sauce. Greatness. The hand-cut potato chips are too thin and not enough for me though. For the finish, a sinful dessert, the Deep Fried Snickers. It reminded us of the Wicked Oreos of Flaming Wings. A great dessert for a sweet tooth like me.

The service was quite disappointing though. Maybe because they were understaffed because there were only two servers at that time and there were a lot of people. I think they made up for it with their food. The prices are also really reasonable.

So, if ever you’re in Taft or you haven’t tried Zark’s Burgers yet, now is the time. They also have eating challenges: The Jawbreaker Challenge and the Tombstone Challenge. Check it out in the lower left of their menu for details. They also have an upcoming promo for the Jawbreaker Burger and you can check it out here.  For more info, check out their Facebook page
