Two More Reasons Why I Love Manang’s Chicken

April 28, 2012

Last Saturday, my friends and I went to the launching of the two new products of Manang’s Chicken, the Velvet Sundae and The Ultimate Crispy Chicken Sandwich. This was an exclusive launch and I’m really honored to be invited at this event. By the way, this was my first ever bloggers’ event to attend to and I was really excited. It was held at their newly opened branch at Tomas Morato. Check the location at the end of this post.

The guests were greeted with a red carpet and I thought to myself that this would really be one special event. After registering for the event, I was given a press kit which contains info about Manang’s, their branches, food menu items, the two products that will be launched, stock photos, and gift certificates (which I will give away so watch out for that!).

Manang’s Chip & Dips (Garlic Mayo and Cream Cheeze)

While waiting for the event to start, each table was served with Manang’s Chips and Dips together with the two dips, Garlic Mayo and Creamy Cheeze. Whenever I order from Manang’s, I never fail to get the chips. You can really see that these are made from real potatoes and it’s not that greasy. It’s a really good snack.

Ms. Jill Gerodias-Borja, President and CEO of Manang’s Chicken

The program started around 2 PM hosted by Magic 89.9 Junior Jock Jeelo Green. Ms. Jill Gerodias-Borja first talked about how Manang’s Chicken started, who is Manang, the timeline of Manang’s, the food menu items, and their plans for the future.

After the intro about Manang’s, the “opening act” was served. The bigger and better version of the Crispy Chicken sandwich, The Ultimate Crispy Chicken Sandwich.

Sandwiched between a kaiser bun with sesame seeds is a whopping piece of crispy boneless chicken thigh with Manang’s sauce (a choice of Original, Mild Spicy, or Extra Spicy) and fresh coleslaw. It’s really an ultimate sandwich! The chicken fillet is almost two inches in height! It’s like their version of KFC’s Zinger but better. If you’re in the mood to eat rice and just want to have a snack, get this one. You won’t regret it. Prices are P109 for solo and P135 for a meal with regular chips and drink.

Teesh’s Choco Chip Cookies

March 28, 2012

About a month ago, I joined the cookie giveway of Teesh and because she is really sweet and awesome, all of the people who joined got free cookies! Yey for us! haha! Follow her now if you want to see that awesomeness, her baking skills, review of beauty products (for the girls) and other stuff —> http://teesh-oh.tumblr.com/

Teesh with the cookies!

I met up with Teesh in front of Chatime to get the cookies. She was just across the building at the back of our building so it didn’t take long for us to meet. I wasn’t late this time. hehe. I noticed her quickly because of the neon green bag she was holding. La salle ang peg ng bag of cookies ni Teesh! haha!

Animo cookies? haha!

Teesh’s note

Inside were the cookies and the note above. For the Brad Pitt reference, go here. haha! To answer Teesh’s question, “Saan si Angelina?”, walang Angelina eh. :( I’m single and ready to mingle! Chos!

Sweet

The chocolate chip cookies

I ate one of the cookies as soon as I got back and it was heavenly! The cookies have a buttery taste to it and it was the soft kind of cookie and I like my cookie that way. To quote my sister, “Parang Mrs. Fields lang!” and I agree. I’m not hard to please when it comes to food specially with the sweet stuff. It was really good! I think my sister and I finished it in two days. haha!

Thanks Teesh for the cookies!! The next time I bake cookies, I’ll make sure to set aside some for you and maybe I’ll give some to my awesome readers too! ;)

Meiji Milk Chocolate Package Redesign

This redesign was a project for my typography class. I kinda went with the minimalist/lazy style. haha! Click the designs to enlarge and see the details. I kinda organized the Nutrition Facts part and also I removed some of the redundant info at the back. I used the font Chunk in most of the design except the Japanese characters (which just means Meiji Milk Chocolate) and the Nutrition Facts. I think it needs some adjustment in the kerning of some letters.

What do you think about the redesign?

Instant Oatmeal Chocolate Flavor
I’ve been trying to cut down on the “unhealthy stuff” and this is what I’m eating most of the time (morning and lunch). I really need to buy a weighing scale to know if this is working. haha!

Zark’s Burgers: The Food-Inducing-Coma Burger Joint

January 29, 2012

Finally, I have my camera when me and my sister ate at Zark’s Burgers. We went there on a Sunday night but the place was still jampacked with groups of students and even families. I’m quite amazed on how the resto expanded. Before, it was just a small area. Maybe around 5-6 tables on a corner of the Archer’s Nook Building. Now, it has expanded through the previous area of the Reyes BBQ resto and the extension area of the Slice n’ Dice resto. I think soon, it will be expanding around malls and other school areas.

If it’s your first time at Zark’s, you will have a hard time deciding on what to get since there are a lot of choices. There are other foods other than burgers in Zark’s. Like rice meals, chips, fries, ribs, and hotdogs. If you’re on a diet, stay away from Zark’s Burgers but if it’s your cheat day or you just don’t give a damn, go ahead and indulge in the sinful calories. We are on the latter category. haha! My sister ordered the Candied Bacon Burger while I ordered the Crunchy Barbecue Burger. For dessert, we ordered the Deep Fried Snickers.

Chocolate Planets

Chocolate just got heavenlier, and I might have just made up a word. Created by L’éclat, the chocolate boutique of the Righa Royal Hotel Japan, every planet in our solar system gets a flavor — so you’ll no longer have to wonder what Uranus tastes like.

Actually, the Chocolate Planet flavors are as follows; Mercury (coconut mango), Venus (cream lemon), Earth (cacao), Mars (orange praline), Jupiter (vanilla), Saturn (rum raisin), Uranus (milk tea) and Neptune (cappuccino).

Individual pieces are sold for 400 yen and 3,800 yen for a set that will include the Sun which is made up of criollo chocolate and pineapple.
